Its our Anniversary

Three years ago was the the inception of Flava 1 Radio Station. A radio station is a radio station, right? WRONG! Flava 1 Radio is a game changer. Not only do they play tha Hitz, tha Jointz, and the Classix there is also always an opportunity for the public to interact with the DJs. People can call in to the station and give shout outs or just say hello! There are some regulars such as Ricky Foo Foo and Patricia Reigns that call in and leave the public and the DJs laughing until their stomachs hurt. Flava 1 Radio is broadcast worldwide. The following that the station has gained in three years is phenomenal.

“Flava 1 was created to get us through Covid”- DJ Unknown. I can attest to this. I was standing in my driveway hosing down some kid toys in the Summer of 2020. Through the “path” as we knew it comes DJ Unknown or as I know him Roy. I will never forget the passion and glow on Unknown’s face when he told me he was going to start an online Radio Station. He didn’t have the kinks worked out just yet. But when I tell you he’s a natural. He is a natural!!  Unknown has a way of engaging an audience that I admire. This same tenacity was used to help co create this station. “This is my baby. I am building an empire’-  DJUnknown

This platform has given DJs across the globe a chance to showcase their skills.  Every DJ has his or her own idiosyncratic set of skills that they bring to the table. DJs have a time slot that they can use to interact with the people and provide musical therapy if you will. No two shows are alike and no two DJs are alike. We also have a  podcast GUYS!!!! The camaraderie that is shared amongst these DJS is amazing. There is a sense of fellowship, brotherhood, and family at Flava1 Radio. I am extremely proud of each and every member of the team. There is always cohesion, respect, and communication amongst everyone.

When Flava1 was in its beginning stages I do NOT think the founders (DJs Da Voyse, Clay Nice, and Unknown) pictured the amount of success they would have in just three short years. Flava 1 is putting themselves on the map. Events such as Flava 1 Day and the Sumpter Street Block Party are just the beginning. The team represents the station wherever they are, whether its a Flava event or not. I am super proud of all the hard work that is put in to keeping the station going. I love the connection and vibe that I see amongst every member of the team. In the flava1 group message everyone has a chance to root the other other person on, give someone advice, talk sports, talk junk, or create new ideas for the station. You name it, its somewhere in that chat. My favorite part of the team is how blended, supportive everyone is. That to me is amazing. This is  certainly a family that chose one another. A family that will continue to grow together.

“My standout flava1 memory is DJ Unknown’s first live show after the untimely passing of co-founder LaTosha Grace.  He took calls from folks all over the country and created the space for content creators who knew her to express how supportive she was even though they had never met in person.  It was an incredible show that touched a lot of people. What makes me happiest about our 3 year journey is the growth of our team members’ careers.  I get straight up giddy when I see our DJs winning, and it’s my most sincere hope that this family of talented individuals can attribute even a small part of their accomplishments to what they’ve learned or who they’ve met on Flava1 Radio”- DJ Clay Nice.

Flava1 has also given me this opportunity to be part of the team and blog. I have truly enjoyed blogging and being part of the team. I am truly blessed to be in great company with these other individuals. Sometimes there may be DJ slots open. I have volunteered a few times. Not sure why they don’t ask me! “What do I know? I’m just a blogger!!” -In my Dj Unknown voice 😂
